The boat which I take the trip is decorated with a lot of Chinese traditional features. One of this is the fan shape picture panel above the doorway. Can you guess what the Chinese characters mean?

The roof the boat is also decorated like the roof of a traditional Chinese dwelling. You may still remember the gold-yellowish color of the roof which stands out marvellously against the background of beautiful scenery. There are also decorative corner features along the two alleys at both sides of the tour boat. See how the motif is carved with great skill and craftsmanship.At the front of the boat, there is a chain of red latterns with a rope knot which means good fortune. I like this photo very much, in particular the bright red decorations framing around the boat rowing towards us.

Wow, very exciting! I'm going on this tour boat for a trip on the famous West Lake (Xi Hu) of HangZhou. This tour boat is painted golden-yellowish in color, the royal color in traditional Chinese culture.

Ripping water shimmering on sunny day,

Misty mountains shrouded the rain;

Plain or gaily decked out like Xizi;

West Lake is always alluring!

These are the (translated) words composed by the famous Song Dynasty poet Su Dongpo (960-1127) when he compared the West Lake to Xi Zi, the most beautiful woman in ancient China. These poetic sentiments expresses beautifully the glory of the scenery that inspired them. Does the photo give you some kind of feeling like this poem? West Lake (Xi Hu) is famous for its beautiful scenery and I had a chance to take a boat trip here. However, we arrive a little bit early for our trip so I wait at the shore where three of the tour ships are parked. The wind is cool and comfortable under the willow tree leaves, a common tree along the side of West Lake.
While I am waiting, I spot a local fisherman. I feel that he is very talented in fishing so I take a photograph with him. See, nobody else takes note of this fisherman at this moment and he is fishing alone.
After about 5 minutes, you see what happens to the same fisherman - he catches a very, very big fish and everyone else is now crowding around him, taking videos and photographs. Of course, I am already sitting in the best position to take this photo because I realize his talent much earlier. Look at the expressions of the surrounding crowd to see how amazed they are !!
