After leaving the shore of West Lake (Xi Hu), I stroll along the streets of HangZhou and come to the entrance gateway of Xi Hu Tian Di (meaning world in West Lake). This development was built by a Hong Kong developer and it is a commercial development with shops and restaurants mingling comfortably into the West Lake scenery.
I am first attracted by the beautiful and colorful flowers. However, when I look closely at the entrance gateway, I see the HangZhou logo in the form of a Chinese character "Hang" (the abbreviated word for HangZhou Province). Moreover, the Chinese character has been designed as a logo with symbols of pagodas, towers and bridges - the typical Chinese architecture along the shores of West Lake. The most amazing design feature of the entrance gateway is that when I move towards the central axis, I can catch a glimpse of the picturesque landscape behind the gateway. Do you feel that the circular window in the centre looks like a beautiful Chinese landscape painting with trees and a bridge? This is another example of the Chinese landscape design methodology in borrowing views and sceneries. I am totally astonished when I take this picture because I do not realize the real intention of the designer when I first arrive at the entrance gateway.

I also see local people resting by the side of the lake enjoying the beautiful scenery and the cool breeze.
This is again one of my favorite pictures and I take this when I cross over a bridge which is decorated by two rows of stone lions. This photo gives me a very calm feeling and I am totally immersed in the peaceful environment. Hope that you like it too!!
West Lake is famous for its ten scenes and one of this is "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon". Just off the southern shore stand three small pagodas that seem to float on the water. Each of these pagodas is about 2 meters high and when candles are placed inside the pagodas on moonlit nights, the effect is of 4 moons dancing on the shimmering night waters. The scene is especially magical when the giant glowing moon on the night of Mid-Autumn Day is overhead. 
However, since it is the daytime now, I am not able to fully comprehend the best effects of this scene. Nevertheless, the local people have a way to enjoy themselves. They row over near to the pagodas and take photographs. Actually, quite a lot of people are doing this and so sometimes they have to queue up for taking such photos. 
It is packed in a special bag with the logo "Hello Kitty Black Wonder". According to my recent search, this bracelet is not available for sale even in eBay.
The bracelet has two pendants of the faces of Dear Daniel and Hello Kitty (Black Wonder version) . 
Here is the close-up of the pendants. Can you see that this Hello Kitty has a tear dropping from her left eye? If you want to know why, please leave a comment and I will elaborate further in my future posting.
There are also decorative corner features along the two alleys at both sides of the tour boat. See how the motif is carved with great skill and craftsmanship.
At the front of the boat, there is a chain of red latterns with a rope knot which means good fortune. I like this photo very much, in particular the bright red decorations framing around the boat rowing towards us.
This is another tour boat of the same design as ours. See how beautiful it looks in contrast to its background. 
These pink and white wristwatches are designed in Italy by Vabene and manufactured in Japan by Citizen. Citizen's quality is high and the Swarovski crystals shine. 
Just look at the details of the watch face. The watch is water resistant and 4.2cm (1.68 inch) in diameter.
It has a stainless steel back together with a Hello Kitty logo. This Special Edition product is now selling for US$579.99 - attractive but quite expensive!!
While I am waiting, I spot a local fisherman. I feel that he is very talented in fishing so I take a photograph with him. See, nobody else takes note of this fisherman at this moment and he is fishing alone.
After about 5 minutes, you see what happens to the same fisherman - he catches a very, very big fish and everyone else is now crowding around him, taking videos and photographs. Of course, I am already sitting in the best position to take this photo because I realize his talent much earlier. Look at the expressions of the surrounding crowd to see how amazed they are !!

Not only are there pigeons wandering on the lawn, there are also numerous pigeons resting on the roof of a nearby building.
One particular pigeon which attracts me most is the one with sparkling greenish feather on its neck. See how friendly we can be (even between a cat and a pigeon) that I can take a close-up photo of my new friend. Me~~ow!! 
After leaving the lawn and on my way to take a boat trip in West Lake (Xi Hu), I meet a security guard. As a friendly ambassador, I manage to make friends with him and take a photograph of him. See how he can posture himself smartly like a professional model !!
I also bring back two large oranges from GuangZhou which the locals gave me as a birthday gift. They are really big - almost as big as my Hello Kitty !! Moreover, they really taste good !!
Every year, I receive two Red Packets from my parents on my birthday. A Red Packet (Hong Bao) is a red envelope with money in it, often decorated with lucky symbols, which symbolizes luck and wealth. Such Red Packets are also distributed by elders and the married to youngsters during Chinese New Year. This is the traditional Chinese culture. The large word on my Red Packet in the photo means blessing.
